Values Intact is a 5 pieces band coming from Palermo, Italy. They started to play together in the spring of ´03. Since the beginning they played a pissed off straight edge hardcore in the vein of bands like Count Me Out, American Nightmare and Carry On.
Their first work -Hope Of Freedom- was edited by the Hungarian Die Hard Collective and after many songs in various compilations, in ´05 Goodwill records hooked them for their second effort. Dear Hometown is absolutely the full length that speaks about the bands identity in sound and lyrics as well.
During these years they played a lot around Europe sharing the stage with bands like Over My Dead Body, Verse, Another Breath, Strength For A Reason, Hold True, Strength Approach, No More Fear, The Difference, Ingegno, Die, Coloss and many others from the European background. They appeared also at Ieper Fest in the summer of 05 and then another italian tour!
Values Intact called it a day in January of 2008.

I can’t understand ,why don’t you feel compassion?
when i look into their eyes, they speak to me!
They don’t wanna be the main characters of this absurd holocaust,
where speciesism is the rule they have to follow,
where money is the reason why they die,
where cruelty is the reason why they continue to suffer,
why they continue to be murdered.
Last night, thinking about them, i felt a little shine fall down in my heart,
cause they have no voice in this world, cause they are defenseless,
and we love them because they are defenseless;
but sometimes i feel myself so little in front of this;
i try to react and i try to scream for them,
while you continue to don’t listen at their cries,
covering your ears and your eyes..
so i’m trying to escape from all this,
cause i don’t want to suffocate in a compromise to survive;

Quando ti capita fra le mani un lavoro come questo, un lavoro dove ad accompagnare sonorità al vetriolo ci sono testi personali ed altrettanto validi, non puoi fare altro che consigliarlo a tutti gli appassionati del vero Hardcore, quello intriso di etica animalista, rigorosamente Poison Free. Da menzionare quindi il grande lavoro svolto dalla Hurry Up! Records, che ci ha consegnato due band, Alone e Values Intact, già pronte per il salto di qualità.

Thinking about which of the bands I like more, this is a tough contest. I guess I would go for Values Intact, since their songs sound a little more developed. Still Alone have a lot of potential, being the young band that they are. I am excited to see where this band is going in the future. If you have the chance to get your hands on this one and you are somehow into melodic old school hardcore, you should grab this, since it is available for only 6€!

La grafica del cd è semplice ma di impatto, in particolare la copertina, mentre il booklet è scarno ed è occupato in gran parte dai testi. Insomma, promossi a pieni voti entrambi i gruppi, l'unico consiglio a chi sta leggendo è di supportarli dal vivo - le band sono state anche insieme in giro per l'Europa - o acquistando questo cd, venduto, come se non bastasse, a un prezzo irrisorio.

Decisamente uno Split con i controfiocchi per la Hurry Up. Decisamente consigliato l’acquisto a tutti gli appassionati che vogliono supportare la scena italiana che ancora una volta dimostra di non aver nulla da invidiare o comunque di aver il fiato sul collo delle scene oltreconfine. Da supportare senz’ombra di dubbio.
